Honeymoon As Unique As the Wedding

The first known literary reference to the honeymoon was penned in 1552, in Richard Huloet's Abecedarium Anglico Latinum. Huloet writes:

Hony mone, a term proverbially applied to such as be newly married, which will not fall out at the first, but th'one loveth the other at the beginning exceedingly, the likelihood of their exceadinge love appearing to aswage, ye which time the vulgar people call the hony mone.  —Abcedarium Anglico-Latinum pro Tyrunculis, 1552

The Grand Canyon Railway and El Tovar Hotel

The Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the Grand Canyon National Park was listed in the National Register of Historic Places  The Grand Canyon Railway offers one daily round trip from Williams to the Grand Canyon everyday except December 25. Grand Canyon Depot, also known as Grand Canyon Railroad Station, was constructed in 1909-10 for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon The station is within 330 ft of the rim of the canyon, opposite the El Tovar Hotel, also built by the railroad. The hotel is one of only a handful of Harvey House facilities that are still in operation, and is an early example of the style that would evolve into National Park Service Rustic architecture. El Tovar Hotel has 78 rooms and suites, two of which are accessible rooms.  It was most recently renovated in 2005. Visit gallery page to view images of the El Tovar Hotel.

The Ethan Allen Express is a 241-mile passenger train operated by Amtrak between New York City and Rutland, Vermont, via Albany. The scheduled total trip time is 5.5 hours. Its operations are subsidized by the State of Vermont, and the train is popular among vacationers travelling to the ski resort area of Killington.
